In Loving Memory of Thomas Goymer Williston
1931 – 2026
Thomas Goymer Williston, passed away peacefully at his home in Bay du Vin on February 16, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Bay du Vin on September 20, 1931, Tom was the son of the late Thomas Goymer Williston Sr. and Alice Annetta (Smith) Williston.
Tom shared 47 years of marriage with his loving wife, Margot (Miller). He leaves behind his loving children, Christianna Williston and John Williston, both of Moncton; his granddaughter, Anna Williston of Tokyo; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved grandson, Thomas Williston; his brother, Reginald Williston; and his sisters, Anna Diamond (Alexander) and Isabel Williston.
Tom served as a Navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force for two years, achieving the rank of Flight Officer. Tom studied at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, the UNB Forestry School, and graduated from the Nova Scotia Land Surveyors Institute.
He became a Registered Land Surveyor and served as Chief Surveyor for Public Works Canada Atlantic Region (Moncton). In 1967, Tom founded T.G. Williston Surveys – a business that continues to serve the community to this day, standing as part of his enduring legacy. Tom was the President of the New Brunswick Land Surveyors Association and served as a school board trustee for over a decade. Tom was instrumental in the creation of the Bay du Vin Haven seniors’ residence. Tom was a passionate member of the Progressive Conservative Party, proudly casting his first ballot for Hugh John Flemming in 1952.
Tom was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church (Bay du Vin), where he served as a vestry member and church warden. He was a member of #17 Northumberland Masonic Lodge and a proud member of the Shriners.
He cared deeply for his extended family and maintained close and meaningful connections with those he loved. His love of animals and his home defined him – from his childhood days on the family farm to the home and life he built with Margot – where the door was always open and where he will never be forgotten.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the incredible Extra‑Mural team, whose professionalism and compassionate care were second to none and enabled Tom to remain in the home he loved so much, as well as to his family physician, Dr. Kris, and his cardiologist, Dr. Nowak, both of whom Tom respected immensely and deeply valued over the years. Tom was also blessed to have the exceptional care of Shweta, whose kindness and devotion went beyond her role and made her a cherished part of Tom’s life and family.
